Watermelon Fries with Coconut Lime Dip

Watermelon fries with coconut lime dip are a fun summer treat! Kick it up a notch by adding some lime juice and Tajin to the watermelon. It’s the perfect snack to enjoy poolside and at all the summer cookouts and BBQ’s! 

I think it’s important to mention, this recipe is vegan, gluten free and kid-friendly. For younger kids, you may want to omit the Tajin. But this is a crowd pleaser for sure. Be ready to impress everyone at your next event with these amazing watermelon fries!

When I first made this recipe, I figured it would be good but once I took my first bite I was mind blown! The taste of the watermelon fries with Tajin paired with coconut lime dip took it to a WHOLE other level! I can’t even describe how delicious this is. I’ll never eat plain watermelon again!

How to cut watermelon into fries?

There are many ways to cut a watermelon into fries or tiny sticks. You can cut the watermelon into slices and trim off the rind. Then cut each slice into sticks. 

You can also cut off each end of the watermelon and trim off all the rind. Then cut into slices and then sticks. There is no wrong way to do this. Do whatever works best for you!

How to tell if a watermelon is ripe?

I did some research and here is what I found. Take a look at the stem. If the stem is green, the watermelon is not ripe. If it’s brown, the watermelon is ripe. Also look for a yellow spot. This indicates that the watermelon is ripe and sweet. You can also tap on the watermelon to see if it sounds hollow. A hollow sound means that the watermelon contains a lot of water and is ripe.  

I also read that if the dark green lines on the watermelon are 2 fingers in width apart the melon is ripe. I can’t fully confirm that this is true but it’s worth giving it a try! 

How to make coconut lime dip?

Coconut lime dip is super easy to make! All you need is coconut yogurt, coconut cream, lime juice and lime zest. That’s it! 

The flavors in this coconut lime dip are so crisp and refreshing, you’ll want to use this dip for everything! It pairs really well with any type of fruit. I would even dare to try it with coconut shrimp. Yum!

Ingredientes
  

Watermelon Fries

  • 1 watermelon
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Tajin, to taste

Dip

  • 1 cup coconut yogurt
  • 1 tbsp coconut cream
  • Zest and juice of 1 lime

Instructions
 

Watermelon Fries

  • Remove rind from the watermelon. Cut watermelon into fry-like sticks.
  • Place watermelon fries on a serving plate. Drizzle with lime juice and sprinkle with Tajin Classic Seasoning.

Dip

  • In a small bowl, combine coconut yogurt, coconut cream, lime juice and zest.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Some key points to choosing a ripe watermelon:
  1. Look for a yellow spot on one side.
  2. Make sure the stem is brown.
  3. Tap the watermelon to make sure it sounds hollow.
