Raspberry chia seed jam

Raspberry Chia Seed Jam

This three ingredient raspberry chia seed jam is a great healthy alternative to store-bought jam! It’s made with three healthy, all-natural ingredients and it’s super quick and easy to make!

Raspberry chia seed jam ingredients

My favorite part about making this healthy raspberry chia seed jam is how easy it is to make! You will only need three ingredients. Raspberries, chia seeds and lemon juice. That’s it! Of course, you can add honey or cane sugar if you prefer a sweeter jam. I found a similar recipe over at Gimme Some Oven.

The chia seeds in this jam add fiber, protein and healthy Omega-3 fats. This recipe also works great with blueberries and strawberries! My daughter Ella loves strawberries and raspberries. My son Cameron prefers blueberries. Either way, I’m a happy mama! The fact that my kids are eating fresh fruit jam instead of highly processed junk sold in stores makes me happy.

How to make raspberry chia seed jam?

Raspberry chia seed jam is super easy to make. All you have to do is add the raspberries to a small saucepan  over medium high heat. The fruit will begin to break down quickly as it heats up. Then you can mash it up until it reaches your desired consistency.

Add the chia seeds and lemon juice and give it a good stir. If desired, add sweeter of choice.

Remove from heat and allow to cool. The jam will continue to thicken as it cools. Store in a glass jar and refrigerate for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.

What to eat with raspberry chia seed jam?

There are many ways to enjoy raspberry chia seed jam. You can add it to your toast, bagel with cream cheese, waffle, pancake, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, etc. I love mine on multigrain toast and on top of my yogurt and granola.

This jam is also great for meal prepping overnight oats and fruit and yogurt parfait. Just assemble your ingredients in mini mason jars and you’re good to go — delicious and guilt-free breakfast made with minimal time and effort.

Tips for best results

  • Taste your raspberries before you use them in this recipe. If your berries are ripe and sweet, you won’t need to add any sweetener! If they are tart, you won’t need to add any lemon juice.
  • After you mix the ingredients together, taste for sweetness and adjust if necessary.
  • If you’re preparing this jam for a baby, omit the honey.
