Homemade adobo comes together easily with spices you probably have in your pantry. You won’t ever have to make a last minute store run for adobo since you can easily make it with just 6 simple ingredients. I love making a large batch of adobo Puertorriqueño to have on hand whenever I need it. When stored properly, it can last up to 3 years. Save this recipe and elevate your dishes to a new level!
I also make homemade sazón which is a total game changer. I am able to make traditional recipes like arroz con gandules, alcapurrias, and pasteles with my homemade seasonings along with homemade aceite de achiote and they turn out amazing!
Is adobo unhealthy?
Adobo is not unhealthy. There are many brands that sell healthy adobo (including salt-free adobo) such as Healthy Rican and Loisa. Use my code madewithsazon for 10% off your order at either brand!
Unfortunately, many brands sell adobo that contains harmful ingredients such as additives, fillers, dyes, and MSG. It is best to purchase adobo from trusted brands or just make it at home.

How to make homemade adobo?
Add all spices to a mixing bowl and mix until well combined. To achieve a smoother consistency, you may blend the spices in a food processor or sift with a sieve. Use a funnel to pour the adobo into a glass jar. You may store the rest in an air tight container for up to 3 years.
The spice jars I use can be found here! They come with the labels, a funnel, brush and marker which is super convenient. I also make homemade sazón which is a total game changer.
