Pollo frito or fried chicken is the ultimate comfort food! I prefer making it in the air fryer because it eliminates having to use an excessive amount of oil, making this dish much healthier. Also, it’s super easy to make in the air fryer. While the chicken cooks, I prepare a side dish and vegetable and dinner is served in less than 30 minutes. My go-to sides for this meal are white rice and habichuelas guisadas. Save this recipe for an easy weeknight meal everyone will enjoy!
Ingredients for making air fryer fried chicken:
- Chicken drumsticks, skin on
- Adobo, Healthy Rican
- Sazón, Healthy Rican
- Paprika
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Brown sugar
- Ground oregano
- Salt
- Black pepper
- All-purpose flour
- Avocado oil

How to make pollo frito en freidora de aire?
First, spray the air fryer with avocado oil and preheat at 375℉. Rinse the chicken with water and white vinegar or lemon juice. Place the chicken in a large bowl. Season the chicken with the spices and toss to combine. Add the flour and toss to combine. Place the chicken in the air fryer and cook at 375℉ for 15 minutes, flip and cook for another 15 minutes. Optional: If you want crispier skin, flip the chicken again and cook at 400℉ for 5 minutes more. Check on it every minute or so to make sure it doesn’t burn. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!

I love serving pollo frito with white rice, habichuelas guisadas, macaroni salad, tostones, and cabbage salad. Fried chicken pairs well with so many dishes, you can serve it with anything you prefer.

- 1 Air-fryer I use the Ninja Max XL 5.5 qt
Ingredients
- 6-8 chicken drumsticks skin on
- 1 tsp adobo Healthy Rican
- 1 tsp sazón Healthy Rican
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground oregano
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp avocado oil
Instructions
- Spray air fryer with avocado oil and preheat at 375℉.
