What are green beans?
Green beans, also called snap beans or string beans, are the edible, unripe pods of the common bean plant, harvested when young and tender, and eaten whole, including the seeds inside. They are often prepared steamed, roasted, sautéed, or in salads and casseroles. In Puerto Rico, habichuelas tiernas are often added to pastelón or piñón.
