Detox Water Recipes to Kick Off the New Year!

With the new year comes the desire to eat clean and detoxify your body in order to restart and recharge. A great way to do this is to drink detox water.

Detox water removes toxins, promotes weight loss and clear skin, increases hydration and energy and boosts your metabolism. By adding fresh fruits and veggies to your water you also add benefits like vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants.

In addition, apple cider vinegar is another amazing additive as it contains enzymes that help regulate bacteria in your gut. Drinking apple cider vinegar water works wonders for weight loss and helps promote a flat belly because it also aids in digestion. When consumed regularly, it decreases abdominal fat and build-up of body and liver fats.

Here are some of my favorite detox water recipes:

Cucumber Mint Detox Water

6 cups water

1 cucumber, sliced

3 lemons

6 mint leaves

Ice, optional

Fill a pitcher with water. Squeeze the juice from 2 lemons into the pitcher. Cut the third lemon into slices and add to the pitcher along with the cucumber slices, mint leaves and ice and let all the ingredients soak for 2-4 hours before drinking.

Strawberry Orange Detox Water

6 cups water

6 strawberries, sliced

1 orange, sliced

6 mint leaves

Ice, optional

Put all the ingredients in a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours.

Pineapple Mango Detox Water

6 cups water

3 lemons

1 cup mango, diced

1 cup pineapple, diced

Ice, optional

Fill a pitcher with water. Squeeze the juice from 2 lemons into the pitcher. Cut the third lemon into slices and add to the pitcher along with the diced fruit and ice and let all the ingredients soak for 2-4 hours before drinking.

Disclaimer: the next recipe is not as fun (or tasty) but it is definitely the healthiest and most powerful in its detoxifying properties.

ACV water:

1 cup lukewarm water

1 tb apple cider vinegar (with the Mother)

1 tb lemon juice (optional)

Stir everything in a cup and drink preferably in the morning on an empty stomach. If you hate the taste, you can add 1 ts of honey or maple syrup to sweeten.
