Puerto Rican picadillo is savory ground beef cooked with onions, peppers, potatoes and olives in sofrito sauce. This Puerto Rican comfort food is super easy to put together on a busy weeknight.
1/2tbspchicken or beef bouillon pasteBetter than Bouillon
1/2cuptomato sauce
1smallonionfinely diced
1/4green bell pepperfinely diced
1/4red bell pepperfinely diced
1/2potatodiced
2tbspgreen pimento stuffed olivessliced or diced
1tbspraisinsoptional
1tspadobo
1tspsazón
1/2tsponion powder
1/2tspgarlic powder
1/4tspground oregano
1/8tspground black pepper
Instructions
Dice the potatoes and boil them in water for about 10 minutes. They will continue to cook in the picadillo later.
Brown your ground beef and remove any excess fat from your skillet.
Add sofrito, tomato sauce, onions and peppers. Add seasonings and cook for a few minutes until the vegetables become tender.
Add the potatoes, olives and raisins (if using). Add a little water if the picadillo dries up. Allow the picadillo to continue cooking until the potatoes are tender.
