Must-Have Apps During Pregnancy, Postpartum & Beyond!

Life during pregnancy and postpartum can be overwhelming, especially if you don’t have the right resources. Luckily, there’s an app out there for everything. During my pregnancy, I found a handful of apps that really helped me along the way. I even found one app that I used after giving birth to my second child that was a total game changer! I wish I had known about it for my first child so I wanted to share on my blog to help other mamas and moms-to-be.

Baby Center & What to Expect

Both of these apps are free and help you track your pregnancy on a daily basis, giving you important information about your developing fetus, bodily changes, nutritional needs and much more. Each week you’ll see a fruit or vegetable at the top of the homepage which matches the size of your growing baby. Super cute!

They also feature useful videos as well as access to a huge community of pregnant women who are exactly as far along as you. In the community, you can search by group, topic, most popular, etc. which can help you find the answers you are looking for and connect with moms-to-be who are most likely experiencing the same things as you.

Audible

I don’t know about you but I prefer listening to audiobooks then actually reading the books. One audiobook I loved during both of my pregnancies was the “Mama Natural Week-By-Week Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth.” (You can always purchase the paperback if that’s your preference.)

If you’re into natural nutrition and self-care, positive affirmations and wish to have a natural childbirth, you’ll enjoy reading this as well. I especially enjoyed the accompanying PDF which contains weekly recipes of specific foods you should be eating for your growing baby.

Insight Timer

This app is also free and has a huge, ever-increasing library of guided meditations for everything under the sun and from a wide variety of teachers. I definitely recommend this app to help ease the stress and anxiety that may come with pregnancy.

I really enjoyed listening to guided meditations for deep sleep and pregnancy relaxation. I even listened to one specifically for labor and delivery relaxation while I was in labor.

Count the Kicks

This is another free app and was very helpful during my third trimester. To ensure that everything is progressing as expected, your doctor will want you to “count kicks,” or fetal movements, every day starting in week 28 through the end of your pregnancy. 10 movements of any kind in an hour or less is normal, though sometimes it will take longer.

The app makes counting kicks super easy and records the counting sessions daily so you can see any increase or decrease in activity. It also sends you a daily reminder to begin your session which is helpful because mommy brain is so real!

Contraction Timer and Counter

Needless to say, we will all need an app to time our contractions and keep track of their duration and frequency. This particular app is free and also very simple to use. All you have to do is tap a button when your contraction starts and tap again when it ends.

Generally, you should head to the hospital when your contractions are 4-5 minutes apart and have been happening at that rate for at least 1 hour.

Baby Tracker

This app right here was a total game changer! I discovered it during my second pregnancy and I wish I had known about it for my first baby. It’s also free and literally keeps track of every feeding, diaper change, pumping session, sleep and anything else you may want to keep track of. I can’t even express how much this has helped me stay on top of my game and not lose my mind!

The newborn stage can be so overwhelming and exhausting, it’s nearly impossible to remember exactly when you last fed your baby or changed a diaper unless you’re keeping track with an app. It’s especially handy for doctor appointments when you have to answer questions like “how many wet or dirty diapers per day?”

This wraps up my favorite must-have apps during pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. If you found this article helpful, please let me know in the comments or on social media @curlsnpearlsss. I love hearing from my community, it truly makes my day! Xo
