Chick fil A Nuggets Copycat Recipe

Are your kids obsessed with Chick fil A nuggets? If so, here’s the Chick fil A nuggets copycat recipe you need in your life! I have experimented with my fair share of chicken nuggets recipes and I must say this one is spot on! The nuggets are juicy and crispy and the best part is they don’t contain any harmful ingredients. Happy kids and happy mama!

How to make Chick fil A nuggets at home?

Chick fil A nuggets are super easy to make at home. All you need is chicken breast and some simple ingredients that you probably have in your refrigerator. For this recipe, you’ll need pickle juice, raw brown sugar, eggs, bread crumbs and seasonings. The pickle juice and brown sugar will serve as the brine for the chicken. You’ll want to marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes but longer is better!

Tip: Don’t use panko bread crumbs. They tend to burn easily. I like to make my own bread crumbs with toasted bread or sometimes I just crush unsalted soda crackers. They turn out beautifully for this recipe.

I like to add annatto oil to my bread crumbs to give the nuggets a beautiful golden brown color! To make annatto oil, combine annatto seeds and your oil of choice (I like olive or peanut oil) in a saucepan and heat over medium high heat. When bubbles start to form around the annatto seeds, turn off the heat and let the seeds soak in the oil for 1 to 2 minutes. Be careful not to burn the seeds because the oil will taste bitter. Transfer the oil to a container using a strainer to filter out the annatto seeds.

Add the annatto oil to the bread crumbs until they are golden in color. Then add the seasonings and toss everything together. Once your chicken has marinated in the pickle juice for a good amount of time, dip them in beaten eggs then coat in the seasoned bread crumbs. Then I like to brush the nuggets with peanut oil (the nuggets are fried in peanut oil at the restaurant) and cook in the air fryer at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until the nuggets are cooked through and golden brown.

How to make Chick fil A sauce copycat recipe?

You can’t have Chick fil A nuggets without their signature Chick fil A sauce! Although you can now buy this sauce at most grocery stores, it’s much better to make it at home! With just a few simple ingredients, this sauce comes together so perfectly. It’s sweet and creamy and tangy. Pure perfection! Just combine mayonnaise, bbq sauce, honey and mustard. Sometimes I add a tiny bit of ketchup and it adds another dimension of flavor and adds more color. Give it a try!
