Hola! My name is Elena and I’m a food content creator. I love to cook the Latin + Caribbean dishes I grew up eating in my childhood. Growing up Puerto Rican brings memories of eating delicious food and fun times spent with familia.
then & now
As a child, I spent many summers in Puerto Rico, eating limber de coco on my Abuela’s front porch. I grew up in Hoboken, NJ just a hop and a skip away from New York City. Every day I’d come home from school to the aromatic smell of sofrito cooking in the kitchen. Puerto Rican food was very much a part of my life then and still is now.
why is my blog named
After graduating from college I became a Fashion and Beauty Editor. When I started my own blog, I came up with the name CurlsnPearlsss because I have curly hair and I was passionate about all things hair and beauty. “Curls” represent hair and “Pearls” represent
beauty, strength and femininity.
After becoming a wife and mom, my focus shifted more into food and lifestyle. I rediscovered my passion for cooking and found myself in the kitchen all day, every day. Since then I created a vanity url: MadewithSazón.com which redirects to my website.
a love letter
Now I’m a mom of two beautiful and energetic children, Ella (6 years old) and Cameron (4 years old). I love cooking Latin recipes and packing fun lunchboxes for them to enjoy at school.
As a mom, I hope to pass down my Puerto Rican culture to my children by way of love, laughter, food, and experiences. My recipes are my love letter to my family.
