This blackberry margarita or margarita de mora is the perfect cocktail for a Halloween party! A sprinkle of activated charcoal turns this drink black for a spooky effect!
Is activated charcoal safe to drink?
Yes, activated charcoal is safe to drink in small doses. In medicine, activated charcoal is used as an emergency treatment for certain kinds of poisoning or overdoses. It helps prevent the toxins from being absorbed from the stomach into the body, but much larger doses are necessary in emergency treatment. In this case, we are only using a tiny pinch so it won’t have any significant effect on the body and won’t change the taste of the cocktail.
I use Rawnice activated charcoal. I like this brand because it’s all about making healthy foods more fun and all of its products are 100% plant based and vegan. I especially love the rainbow collection which features vibrant, colorful powders in every color you can think of. I use them in my drink recipes and sometimes to make fun pancakes or smoothies for my kids! (Btw this is not sponsored, I just enjoy the products!)
